His presentation is entitled “Code Is Law” and is scheduled for Monday April 11, 2011 1:30 p.m. – 2:30 p.m. Here are some of the questions he intends to answer: Does anyone get this yet? What is the place of law in a digital society? How does it compete with or complement code? It has been a decade since these questions were first asked and answered. It is time the law began to take these answers into account.

Professor Lessig has devoted much of his career to issues of law and technology, founding Stanford Law School’s Center for Internet and Society and serving as a founding board member at Creative Commons. His compelling and uniquely styled presentations are notorious.

Exhibitors

Here are some highlighted exhibitors:

Clio (TECHSHOW Booth#509)

(www.goclio.com) provider of cloud-based legal practice management offering Clio, announces a set of new collaboration features for its client portal, Clio Connect.

Clio Connect provides a secure portal through which lawyers can share documents, including invoices, with clients. Also, lawyers can also setup online payments through Clio Connect. To further enhance collaboration, Clio Connect now includes:

●     Messaging between law firm and client

●     Intra-office messaging

●     Scheduling

Index Engines (TECHSHOW Booth#805)

Done right, legacy data collection enables establishment of a litigation-ready repository for information governance and retention policy enforcement.  With this in mind, Index Engines (www.indexengines.com) announces its solution for collection and management of legacy data.  Index Engines’ Collection offering incorporates:

  1. Collection Repository – ESI is extracted from tape and stored in the Collection repository.  All data in the Collection is available to support compliance, legal and other Information Governance applications.  The Collection tool has a management interface that allows for comprehensive culling and discovery of the data.
  2. Discovery – all ESI extracted into the collection is fully indexed and searchable.  Any data can be queried based on content and metadata attributes.
  3. Policy – policies can be created using the in-depth query language in the management console.  These stored policies can be executed on a scheduled basis, extracting relevant ESI from tape into the Collection for safekeeping.
